bip Beyond Borders: The Mission to Fernando de Noronha
The first bip community mission brought technical scrubs and coats to the frontline hospital team on the remote island of Fernando de Noronha.
While the world sees a paradise, bip wanted to see the people who make everything work. The first edition of our community-outreach program brought technical coats and scrubs to the team at São Lucas Hospital, on the remote Brazilian archipelago of Fernando de Noronha.
A place where caring for others is already extraordinary
Fernando de Noronha is one of Brazil's most beautiful destinations — and, at the same time, one of the most demanding places to practice medicine. Roughly 535 kilometers off the coast, the archipelago is home to about 3,500 permanent residents and receives an average of 2,000 visitors a month. When someone needs medical care there, reaching a major hospital in minutes isn't an option — access is air or sea only. In serious cases, transport to advanced-care facilities on the mainland depends on an air ambulance dispatched by the state health department.
That's the context São Lucas Hospital's team — the island's only real healthcare reference point — works in every day, with full responsibility, resources sized for a remote territory, and the mission of guaranteeing quality care for residents and visitors, whether it's a 3 a.m. emergency or an outpatient clinic now covering ten specialties.
It was looking at these people that bip decided to go there.
What the program is
This community-outreach initiative was created to recognize, value, and support healthcare professionals working across different, often challenging and remote, regions. More than a one-off donation, it's meant as an ongoing platform for recognizing frontline healthcare work — connecting real stories, social impact, and professional recognition.
The first edition brought the bip team to São Lucas Hospital, where technical coats and scrubs were donated to physicians, nurses, nursing technicians, and hospital staff. During the visit, the team shadowed part of the hospital routine and heard firsthand from the people sustaining that healthcare system hundreds of kilometers from the mainland.
"Everyone looks at Noronha and sees a paradise. So do we. But we chose to look mainly at the people who make everything work." — Felipe David, bip founder
After Fernando de Noronha, the initiative went on to the Javari Valley in the Amazon, and continues expanding into other regions, bringing product, recognition, and visibility to teams that rarely make the headlines.
What each mission brings
Each edition goes beyond donating uniforms, combining recognition, storytelling, and content that gives visibility to frontline teams:
- Donation of technical coats and scrubs — built for the intensity of medical routine, with technical fabric, water resistance, antiviral protection, a smart pocket system, premium fit, and comfort for long shifts.
- Professional recognition — moments built to value teams, hear their stories, and make visible the work of people caring for others in conditions most of society rarely sees.
- Storytelling — each mission documents local professionals' reality and turns it into content that broadens the conversation on valuing frontline healthcare, reaching an audience of professionals and students nationwide.
- Visibility for frontline teams — clinicians working in remote or hard-to-reach territories rarely get national attention. This program puts them at the center of the story.
Why bip built this program
bip was founded to transform the healthcare professional's experience through products that combine performance, technology, and functionality — but that purpose was always bigger than the product itself. The brand was founded by Felipe David, the son and brother of physicians working in Brazil's public health system, and that background shapes how the company sees its responsibility within the healthcare ecosystem. Today, bip dresses more than 8,000 healthcare professionals and students across more than 540 cities in Brazil. But for the brand, dressing professionals goes beyond product — it also means recognizing the people who sustain care every day, in conditions that demand far more than technical skill: vocation, resilience, and the conviction that their place is right there, next to the people who need them.
"Whoever's on the frontline of care deserves support, recognition, and respect." — Felipe David, bip founder
This program is that commitment made real — one that will keep growing alongside bip, bringing product and recognition to every corner where healthcare professionals are giving their best, often far from the spotlight.
