10 Things You Might Not Know About bip | 2 Years In

Two years in, bip has dressed thousands of healthcare professionals. Here are 10 behind-the-scenes facts about how the brand came to be.

Two years ago, bip was born with a simple mission: prove medical apparel could be functional, good-looking, and comfortable at the same time. Today, thousands of healthcare professionals and students have chosen to wear that idea with us — people who believe you can transform even the busiest routine with more comfort, technology, and design. To mark the milestone, here are 10 things about bip you might not know.

Quick facts: 2 years of history, built on the idea of combining functionality, design, and comfort in medical apparel · 10,000+ healthcare professionals and students already wearing bip across hundreds of cities · pioneered the first antiviral, water-resistant fabric and the first zip-pocket coat in its category in Brazil · 97% approval in blind tests against the leading U.S. brand in the category, and the most positively reviewed brand of its kind on Google.

  1. The name came from a sound. The classic pager beep marked generations of healthcare workers. We turned that sound into a name representing exactly who we want to dress: people who live the hospital routine every day.
  2. We were first to launch an antiviral, water-resistant fabric for medical apparel. When nobody else was talking about it, we were already developing the technology to make the daily routine safer and more practical.
  3. We created the first zip-pocket coat in our category. Losing your phone, keys, or badge mid-shift never made sense to us.
  4. We won 97% of blind tests against the leading U.S. brand in the category — no label shown, no brand story told. Just letting people feel the fabric.
  5. We're the most positively reviewed medical-apparel brand on Google — honestly, one of the numbers we're proudest of.
  6. will.i.am has worn bip. Yes. We had a hard time believing it too. But that's a story for another day.
  7. Our office is on the third floor of a walk-up building with no elevator — which means carrying hundreds of boxes of scrubs and coats up by hand. Everyone on the team has gotten a solid leg workout out of it.
  8. One of our most-viral videos ever showed "blue vomit" at Carnival. Not an artistic choice — it was blue because a realistic version probably would've gotten the video taken down.
  9. Our first team member is a physician. She came in to buy a coat for her boyfriend and ended up leaving medicine to help build bip with us.
  10. We have an internal group called "bip Gems" — dedicated to saving our customers' best lines. A perennial favorite: someone once called the brand "Bibi."

These are just a few behind-the-scenes moments from our story. Two years in, more than 10,000 people are wearing bip across hundreds of cities. Thank you for being part of building this. The next chapters promise to be even better.
